We are closing in on the two month mark! Cliche, yes, but it seems like just yesterday I got on that plane, and at the same time, it feels like years ago. New York has a funny sense of time. (Case in point: vocal auditions at the butt crack of dawn. NOBODY looks cute and is warmed up when they have been sitting in line on the concrete outside since 6am, not drinking coffee for fear of dehydration. But I am sure I'm preaching to the choir... it's not even cold out yet. And for the record: I just drink the damn coffee. And there really is no better people-watching experience than at auditions, so I'm not complaining.)
Anyway, having been in New York almost two months, auditioning, getting used to a new place, new job, new friends, callbacks, hard decisions, waiting far too long to see my favorite man, etc... I am going to be part of a cabaret at Don't Tell Mama's. Actually two cabarets. They are October 15th and 29th (event info can be found on my Facebook!). The best part is that the second performance will be while my favorite is in town. :) Apparently, there is skepticism surrounding doing two cabarets so close together... Why? No good reason, as far as I am concerned. I am choosing to live by faith. What else do we have as actors, really? And the question actually should be, "who WOULDN'T want as many opportunities to perform as possible?" I am so very thankful and excited to be here, doing what I love. And singing WHOLE SONGS to boot.
