As of last fall, I am one of the newest members of the Metropolitan Master Chorale. I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible group of singers, and am learning so much singing alongside them.

And since I was touring with Rudolph over the winter, for the first time, I will be performing with them in March!

tour life

I'm so glad to have been able to tour the country with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical the last few months. I was able to work with some really incredible people and find out that tour life is definitely something I would like to do again... which is so exciting!

Until I have an opportunity to tour again, I am glad to be building a life and home in Los Angeles and to be back at the audition grind.  Exciting things are coming, and I'm thankful to this lady for providing the means!

I've been very lucky to be able to spend a few weeks at home in Chico these first few weeks off the ship. I've been able to see my lovely friend, Sarah Michelle Cuc as Sister Mary Patrick in the National Tour of Sister Act.  This, genuinely, was one of the most inspirational things I've seen because I know what a joyful, kind soul she is, and I love to see people like her doing work and loving it.

I also was able to spend some time working with the Musical Theatre students at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences. Coaching these passionate and creative kids was such a joy.  Sometimes I think I learn even more about this crazy art form as a teacher than as a student.

The poster for their upcoming showcase is below; Chico locals, go support the arts in schools!

The 9-month contract with Disney Cruise Line is coming to a close, and it is bittersweet. It is absolutely something I would do again, but for now, I am excited to see some family, crack my own eggs again, get coffee at midnight and have long-awaited conversations with friends I haven't seen in years. I'm proud to have worked hard so that I can take some time to do this.

Then after that, who knows? I feel that California is calling, and that I have things to learn there. Commence the classes, auditions, and reconnecting!

la!

LA!
 Yes... Los Angeles.
Also... a note to follow "SO."
But also, in The Fantasticks, LA is used as an exclamatory phrase. "LA! Time is Rushing!", "La! How jolly!", and everyone's favorite: "La! How gay!"

I love it!  This vintage word feels like it describes life perfectly right now. I am staying in Long Beach, CA with my love and my little boy Jimmy:
…while I work on my favorite role EVER in The Fantasticks in Hollywood with my favorite Good People Theatre Co. Last night, the ORIGINAL LUISA, Susan Watson, came to our opening, and loved it.  It is magic.

There is also something magical about being able to go to earth's end at a moment's notice and feel the sand and the ocean between your toes.  One is reminded just how big the world is, when one can look out at the water and is not able to see where it ends.

It has been a wonderful time to connect with friends and family and nature before heading out on my next magical adventure: Disney Cruise Line!

No New York Winter for me this year! I think I will spend it in The Bahamas making new friends, seeing new places, and doing what I love.  July 10th, I fly to Toronto to start rehearsing for 4 shows that will be performed on The Dream Sept. 2014-March 2015. Yes… that makes this "The Dream Cast."  #feelingblessed

Life is a cabaret old chum...

We are closing in on the two month mark! Cliche, yes, but it seems like just yesterday I got on that plane, and at the same time, it feels like years ago. New York has a funny sense of time.  (Case in point: vocal auditions at the butt crack of dawn.  NOBODY looks cute and is warmed up when they have been sitting in line on the concrete outside since 6am, not drinking coffee for fear of dehydration. But I am sure I'm preaching to the choir... it's not even cold out yet.  And for the record: I just drink the damn coffee.  And there really is no better people-watching experience than at auditions, so I'm not complaining.)

Anyway, having been in New York almost two months, auditioning, getting used to a new place, new job, new friends, callbacks, hard decisions, waiting far too long to see my favorite man, etc... I am going to be part of a cabaret at Don't Tell Mama's.  Actually two cabarets. They are October 15th and 29th (event info can be found on my Facebook!). The best part is that the second performance will be while my favorite is in town. :) Apparently, there is skepticism surrounding doing two cabarets so close together... Why? No good reason, as far as I am concerned. I am choosing to live by faith.  What else do we have as actors, really? And the question actually should be, "who WOULDN'T want as many opportunities to perform as possible?" I am so very thankful and excited to be here, doing what I love. And singing WHOLE SONGS to boot.

A Subtle Change of Scenery

The plane ticket has been bought, the college stuff has been moved home, and I am preparing to limit my worldly possessions to the capacity of 2 suitcases and move to New York.  Meetings, interviews, and many, many auditions are already on the calendar.  Exciting times are ahead!

"Next thing you know, you need a subtle change of scenery. So you pack up your belongings, and you plan a different route." These words, set to music by writing duo Salzman and Cunningham have been playing in my head quite frequently lately.  Along with a lot of prayer, talks with close friends, and yoga, words like these are giving me strength to focus on all that is ahead. Thank God for brilliant writing and the opportunity to live it in one of the most beautifully diverse and creative cities in the world.
